Church Basement Ladies

A Heavenly Musical Comedy

Church Basement Ladies

Sunday, February 21, 2010 – 2:00 p.m.

What do a record-breaking Christmas dinner, a funeral reception, a Hawaiian Easter Fundraiser, and a steaming hot July wedding have in common? They all require the labor and love of the Church Basement Ladies! Funny and down to earth, the four Church Basement Ladies have cooked up a hilarious new musical comedy that is coming to the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Sunday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. Church Basement Ladies features four distinct women who tirelessly prepare food for the congregation, solve the problems of their rural Minnesota church and diligently keep the church going…from the kitchen basement up to heaven! Tickets, ranging from $25-$35, are on sale now for this celebration of what really happens behind the pulpit...or under it.

Set in an era before women wore pants to church and before men served in the church basement, Church Basement Ladies is a heartfelt, hilarious insight into the lives of four wonderful, unsung women who worked in what was the heart and soul of any church: the kitchen.

Between the elderly matriarch of the kitchen, the young bride-to-be, the jack-of-all trades farm wife and the best cook in the church, these four wacky “Church Basement Ladies” stave off potential disasters, debate recipes, instruct the young, keep the pastor on due course and uplift the spirit and loaves of bread while preparing meals for four events: a Christmas dinner, a funeral, a fundraiser and a wedding.

Full of good, clean laughs, memorable characters, toe tapping tunes and delicious humor, Church Basement Ladies is perfect entertainment for the entire family. So be sure not to miss this heavenly fun direct from the church basement kitchen!
