Lindsay Staniszewski, Miss Montgomery County, has been crowned the new Miss Maryland. Staniszewski from Edgewater, Maryland will receive a $10,000 scholarship and other gifts. Mary Teal Mulligan of Williamsport, Miss Hagerstown Outstanding Teen, was named Miss Maryland Outstanding Teen 2010.

FREDERICK’S 4th—An Independence Day Celebration

Entertainment Schedule

June 16, 2010, Frederick, MD- Celebrate Frederick presents the 27th annual Independence Day Celebration on Sunday July 4th, from noon till dusk, in Baker Park, Frederick, MD. This years live entertainment variety is sure to please all listeners and will continue throughout the day’s festivities. There will be three stages featuring various entertainments including the Main Stage, Country Stage, and Bandshell areas.

Main Stage

Shane Gamble: The main stage entertainment will begin at 12:45pm, featuring Shane Gamble. Gamble provides a refreshing and engaging rock/pop performance. He is known for his soulful and melodic songs. Inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan, he began to play the guitar at age 5 and has developed his musical career creating original and self produced albums. Gamble has released three albums to date. His songs have a mix of rock and blues with an acoustic originality. Be sure to catch this performance in hopes of a preview of his upcoming album release, fall 2010. Vinyl Rhino: From 3:00 to 4:30 pm Baltimore’s own Vinyl Rhino will take over the main stage. The five musicians that have come together to form this Rock cover band feature songs by popular artists like Pearl Jam, Led Zepellin, and Van Halen. Kelly Bell Band: At 5:15, the Kelly Bell Band will take the main stage. Returning to Frederick to share their Phat Blues lyrics, Kelly Bell Band is a unique performance that takes the classic blues style and transforms into their own. The band adds a touch of funk and passion to each performance. They have been named, The “Best Blues Band in the Mid-Atlantic Region” for the past nine years, along with having features in music magazines like Blues Revue Magazine. WFRE Country Stage

Jerrod Niemann: Beginning at 1:30pm the country stage will kick off with Kansas raised Jerrod Niemann. Inspired by country song performers like Lefty Frizzell and Conway Twitty, Niemann has written songs for stars like Garth Brooks resulting in top 40 hits. He is sure to provide a strong country performance that will start the day off right. Go online to www.jrod.net to get a glimpse of this opening performer.

Josh Thompson: 4pm will bring one of country’s newest performers, Josh Thompson, to the stage. With his first album release in February 2010, Thompson has already been involved in tours featuring top chart artists like Brad Paisley and Derks Bentley. Lee Brice: At 7pm Lee Brice, Country’s top chart performer, will be taking the stage. Having co-written songs for country stars like Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, Brice is probably best known for his recent top 15 chart hit, “Love Like Crazy.” This country performance will surely liven up the crowd. Bandshell

The Bandshell entertainment will begin the day’s celebration with the opening ceremonies, starting at noon. This stage will feature live children’s entertainment throughout the day, including the Kountry K-9 Show and Mr. Brown the Clown. At 2:45pm help select the best patriotic attire in the Best Patriotic Dressed Competition. Children are sure to have a great time with the various performers at the Bandshell. From 8pm till fireworks begin, the Spires Brass Band will begin an instrumental performance that will inspire an appreciation for the art of a traditional English Brass band. This will be the band’s 16th year of Frederick performances and is sure to be one of their most outstanding performances to date.

FREDERICK’S 4th—An Independence Day Celebration

June 17, 2010, Frederick, MD – Celebrate Frederick presents the 27th Annual Independence Day Celebration in Baker Park, Frederick, MD. This year’s celebration is sure to provide activities and entertainment for all ages!

The day’s festivities will kick-off with a patriotic opening ceremony in the Baker Park Bandshell at Noon. The ceremony will start the nation’s celebration off right and be followed up by live children’s entertainment and the Best Dressed competition at 2:45pm. The competition will select the most patriotic attire based on originality, patriotism, and use of red, white, and blue. Show off your most patriotic ensemble for a chance to win this friendly competition.

Be sure to sample Frederick’s finest chili selection in the Chili Cook-off competition, located in the Baker Park near the main stage. Cooks will begin preparing chili at 8:30am and the public can start sampling at 1:00pm. Taste all chili selections, for only $10.00, to help select the winner of the people’s choice award. Judging will take place at 3pm and awards will be given at 4pm.

Children of all ages will have an exciting day participating in the 2nd Annual Scavenger Hunt. Stop by the gazebo information booth for a map and explore the set ups throughout Carillon villages to complete the Hunt. Located throughout the booths will be prizes, crafts, face painting and games for all to participate in. Once you complete your map return it to the information booth for prizes, giveaways and the chance to win a Frederick’s 4th prize pack featuring a 3 day/2 night mini vacation with over 80 resorts to choose from, courtesy of Paige’s Promotions.

Children’s amusements will also be featured in the Carillon and Culler Lake areas. Activities include:
