June 5, 2009, Frederick, MD - The 2009 Summer Concert Series at the Bandshell in Baker Park will kick off June 14th with the Rock & Roll Relics. Deemed as one of the premier oldies musical acts in the Mid-Atlantic region, the Rock & Roll Relics perform a laundry-list of favorites from the 1950’s and ‘60’s. This free live performance-part of the Summer Concert Series, presented by Celebrate Frederick Inc. and COMSTAR Federal Credit Union-begins at 7 p.m.

The band has an extensive history and has endured numerous member changes but they still live on as one of the most entertaining cover artists around the Mid-Atlantic. Rock & Roll Relics first performances were at the Saturday Night Cruise-Ins, a classic car event in Mt. Airy, during the summer of 1997. Since then the band kept evolving, losing members, gaining members and currently have been playing with the same line-up since the fall of 2008. Rock & Roll Relics consists of Golden Girl Gail Chiappone on guitar and vocals, Couch Potato Chip Chiappone on bass and vocals, Pension Pete Lightning on keyboards and vocals and Bill “Broadway Willie” Miskell on drums and vocals.

The band concentrates on reproducing the sounds of the songs of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s and perform a wide variety of styles ranging from street corner doo-wop, to the sounds of the Beach Boys and the Beatles. The band is sure to make you Twist and Shout!

All Summer Concert Series performances are free to the public, but The Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. All items collected benefit the Frederick Food Bank.

The performance is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Baker Park Bandshell. Stick around after the performances to listen to the bells of Carillon at 8:30 p.m. The performance is weather permitting, in the event of inclement weather please visit for news of event cancellations. Decisions regarding weather are made approximately by 4:00 p.m.; therefore if weather is inclement at this time please visit our website.
